Where many if not the majority of Dystopian novels follow the formula of war, famine, disease, weird science, apocalypse, armageddon etc, this novel is different in the way that the "incident" that they are surviving was imposed upon them in an unusual way.Īs i have stated many many times the hunger games is not for kids and most teens, this one could be appropriate for. Going against the status quo just might get you everything you wantĪnd when vacationing (if your a big baller) hire security When i read "The Hunger Games" i was left with and overwhelming feeling of:īeware of fancy eyelashes that conceal the devil.ĪLWAYS trust your instincts in ALL aspects of being human The pacing in the book goes from a fast power walk to a all out run for your life the shit just hit the fan, without any fluff or low filler points to speak of. The storyline was interesting and the author did such a good job of pacing in this book! The book is quite a quick read with being less than 300 pages, but the quick pace it is a very well rounded plot with complete characters. I read this one straight from page 1 - 245, non-stop. This book kept me enthralled to the point i lost all track of time, time did not exist for me for a few hours. At lest the best book i have read in 5 years, beating out "The Hunger Games" i'm not even lying here. And for the love of Jesus don’t force kids to read this one. This just MIGHT be the best book I have ever read. The author is obviously very talented to have sparked these emotions that still unsettle me to this day, but maybe wait till your kids/ you are at least 16 to read this one. A deep take on mental health and psychological horror/thriller. From what I remember the story isn’t bad perse but just really dark. But it was enough for 11 year old me to forever hate this book and start me in therapy young lol. In the end it’s revealed that the dad is a nut job and they don’t actually eat the babies.

Spoilers to follow, this book subjects HEAVILY around a wife being forced to birth children just so her older children can eat them because the dad poisoned the cows. I am now 21 and this book still gives me nightmares. I was forced to read this BY MYSELF for school when I was 11 not even in group read.
